AMIE and SAAFF Host Border Management Authority in Durban

On 25 and 26 May, members of the AMIE Executive, led by Paul Matthew, participated in a strategic roadshow initiative in Durban, where AMIE and SAAFF hosted the Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Nakampe Masiapato, together with other BMA officials.

The engagement provided an important platform for direct discussions with the Commissioner, focused on strengthening collaboration and advancing current projects being undertaken by AMIE, SAAFF and SAEPA as part of the ACME Projects.

As part of the programme, delegates visited cold storage facilities to gain first-hand insight into inspection protocols and operational procedures within the sector. The visit created an opportunity to discuss industry best practices, current challenges, and areas where stronger cooperation may enhance efficiency, compliance and trade facilitation.

The roadshow reinforced the value of ongoing engagement between industry stakeholders and regulatory authorities, highlighting a shared commitment to improving processes, supporting trade and maintaining high standards across the supply chain.
